I'm a designer, developer, producer, husband and father-to-be.

Portfolio

This portfolio shows a selection of my work and projects I have been involved with.

Fairies Backdrop graphic design

Fairies Backdrop Thumbnail - Fairies Backdrop.

I created this backdrop for some friends who run a little girls parties business. They wanted pink and girly with a castle which I think this image accomplishes quite nicely.

Word Weaver website

Word Weaver - Word Weaver.

Word Weaver is the home of marketing and copywriting consultant Frances Day.

Fran wanted a clean, minimal website for her online presence that focused on her copy above all else.

NorthCast website

NorthCast: The Web Podcast By Northern Folk! - NorthCast: The Web Podcast By Northern Folk!.

NorthCast is a North England focused podcast covering local news, events and start-ups in the industry of the web.

I helped co-found NorthCast and the NorthCrew (the organising body of the North projects, which also includes NorthPack) and I co-presented the podcast and video coverage for the first 6 months of the shows life.

Unfortunately I have now had to hang up my flat cap and step down from NorthCast, for the simple reason of time. The North projects have grown and expanded so quickly I simply haven't been able to commit the time to them that they deserve while still holding down a 9 to 5. I hope that they continue to grow and prosper without me.

North Projects branding & logos

North projects branding - North projects branding.

I took charge of the branding of the North projects. We wanted a common theme among the different sites, and our plan was to change the colour scheme between sites.

Havoc Studios website

Havoc Studios - Havoc Studios was the home of my previous blog. A collaborative effort with Paul Stanton.

Havoc Studios was the home of my first blog. I joined forces with Paul Stanton with the mindset that we could produce much more interesting, technical content together than we could individually and it worked out pretty well, however times change, and Paul and I decided to "go our separate" ways and start our own blogs.

I designed Havoc Studios, and I was always very pleased with the result. It appeared on designmeltdown.com under the module madness section and I've been told by Patrick McNeil that it will most likely be appearing in his book The Web Designer's Idea Book due out Sept 2008.

I hate dead links which is why, if you visited havocstudios.co.uk, you've ended up here. If you were hoping to find Paul Stanton's blog his new virtual home is coffeepowered.co.uk.

Tech Read

(Book) Learning jQueryA great reference book for learning jQuery, broken into sensible chapters focused on jQuery's core functions.

(Book) Time's EyeBook 1 of A Time Odyssey, Arthur C. Clarke's final trilogy before passing away. Time's Eye is an interesting idea, but not his strongest novel unfortunately.
